£22,000 Fine for asbestos offences

Able UK Holdings were fined £22,000, plus £4,522 costs, for failing to comply with the Landfill Regulations when dealing with asbestos waste.

 

Hartlepool Magistrates Court heard how an inspector from the Environment Agency had visited the landfill site on two separate occasions and had seen unprotected asbestos waste being moved around the site by a bulldozer.

 

On the first visit, the inspector had raised the matter with the site manager, but the same situation was still occuring on the second visit, some three months later.
